… all offices of The First National Bank of McHenry will be closed on Monday, May 27, 2013. Transactions received after 4:30PM on Friday, May 24, 2013 through and including Tuesday, May 28 will have an effective posting day of May 28, 2013. Direct deposits, online bill payments, and wire transfers will all be processed on Tuesday, May 27, 2013, as well. During this time, please take a moment to not think of this as a typical three day weekend; but rather a time to remember all of the servicemen and women – and their families – who made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom.
*** Fraudulent Telephone Call Alert ***
The bank has received multiple reports from several customers that a fraudulent, random telephone call has been circulating throughout the area from an automated recording system. This call indicates that “your debit or credit card is about to be deactivated.” To avoid this alleged deactivation, instructions are then given to stay on the line and speak with a customer service representative who will then begin asking questions about the card with respect to its number, expiration date, the name on the card, and the security code on the back panel. Should you receive a phone call similar to this, it should be considered a fraud. When First National Bank of McHenry (or any other legitimate bank you may do business with) calls for valid fraud protection reasons, the bank will already have access to that information, and would never need to ask you for it. If you believe you have inadvertently given out any information as a result of receiving such a phone call, please contact us, so we may take appropriate precautions.
We also wish to thank those customers who have called in and reported this for the sole purpose of us alerting others. Neighbors looking out for one another is what makes smaller communities great places to live and conduct business in.
